In the 30 years since The Port Hills of Christchurch was first published it has become a collector's item - a prized resource for all those in Canterbury, and beyond, who cherish the hills that dominate the city's southern skyline. Gordon Ogilvie, himself a child of Horotane Valley, has proved a deeply knowledgeable, approachable and articulate guide to the history, people and topography of this endlessly interesting area, which stretches from Godley Head to Gebbies Pass.
Now, after a great deal of new and meticulous research, this award-winning historian has updated and greatly extended The Port Hills of Christchurch, and added many fascinating photographs. This area already had a long and vivid Maori history before Europeans arrived. We are well established as one of New Zealand’s leading Independent Booksellers with two stores open to the public.

Our UC Campus shop is a huge 900 sq. metre. space, where we stock a large range of book titles which complement our text book market. We also stock an extensive range of stationery, as well as magazines and greeting cards. We have many loyal customers from outside of the University precincts, who have discovered the joy of shopping in a non-mall atmosphere. Car parking is situated beside the store.

The Christchurch Public Hospital store serves a large clientele of professional staff, patients and the public. The hospital store now stocks a range of essential medical and surgical products.

There is a 10% discount off all Text books. The UBS Loyalty Card is also given to students for their text book purchases on top of their student discount. The Loyalty Card is also issued with all general book purchases.

Our experienced staff members are extremely knowledgeable. They are dedicated booksellers who read widely, with many years of experience within the book trade.

We pride ourselves on sourcing book titles from a host of internet search engines. This enables us to source any in-print title you may require.

We regularly mail our customers with up-to-date information regarding our many book launch events in store.

We welcome special orders and are specialists in this area.
